This year has gone by in a hurry! The PTO has been able to help with many different events this year and raise a good amount of money!
The PTO kicked off the year with a Boo Hoo / Yahoo Breakfast for those dropping their little ones off to Kindergarten. There were only two Kindergarten classes this year and most of those parents had experienced that emotional roller coaster before, but we hope those that came enjoyed their breakfast! We helped with Muffins with Mom, Donuts with Dad, Grandparents' Day, Watch D.O.G.S. kick-off, College / Career Day, & World Read Aloud Day by bringing some of the food and / or donating paper goods. Daughter Date Night was a great success! It was so fun to see all our HSA gals dressed up and getting down. :) We had an AWESOME Teacher Appreciation Week! We hope the teachers and staff know how much we appreciate them! We sold snacks at Theater Night (and will again at Fine Arts Night) and raised some money for Ms. Brown & the Art program!! Our Boys Game Night didn't have a great turnout but was still SO. MUCH. FUN. We loved giving away all those incredible toys as prizes for our BINGO game. We helped with Harmony Around the World by providing all the water, plates and sample cups. Instead of doing Wish Lists this year, we gave each staff member a Holiday card in December with some cold, hard cash. We know how much of their own money they spend on their classrooms / work space and we all voted to give a little back. We had two separate birthday celebrations for the staff (August - December birthdays and January - July birthdays). Each staff member received a Target gift card. We had some awesome Spirit Nights!! Along with Chick-fil-A, we dined at Raising Cane's, Cousin's, Chuck-E-Cheese & Rosa's! We raised about $1500 from those nights and it all come right back to help the school and our kids! Ms. Jones' class had the highest attendance at Cousin's so her class won a silly string party! The PTO provided the silly string and the kids went to town. It was awesome! We also had a contest for the class with the highest attendance at Raising Cane's - that award went to Ms. Graeber, Ms. Coker AND Ms. Jones!!! And their classes won an extra recess! Way to go, Tigers! We had another successful Fall Festival! It was so much fun! A special thanks to the FWPD ID truck and the FWFD for donating their time - the kids loved it! We sold snacks at the Talent Show and donated all the proceeds to Mr. Mullini and the Music program. Mr. Mullini is a beloved staff member at HSA - coworkers, parents & children alike ADORE him. We helped out with the Fun Run by donating the items needed for face paint! There were also a few PTO members that stepped up to do the actual painting. It was an amazing event put on by the coaches & we can't wait for the next one! HSA students turned in over 10,000 Box Tops this year! That means we raised over $1,000 - all by clipping out those little pink Box Tops from different items in our homes. WOW! For both the Fall & Spring contests, the top classes were rewarded with an ice cream party! For second and third place each time, the classes received a cookie party. We are so proud of the kids (and their parents!) for working so hard. We had a great time this year. We hope all of the community-building, money-raising and FUN will continue next year! |
